I was a flight attendant and Japanese translator for 15 years before starting my journey as a photographer.
I am so grateful for being able to experience so many different cultures in the world. So, it brings me so much joy showing my kids new places, too.
My husband and I are both from Japan, but I was raised in New Jersey. We moved to the Jacksonville, Florida area just a few years ago. Although we miss the Jersey pizza and delis, we love the weather and the friendly people here.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking and gardening. My mug and plant collection are always in order because I also love organizing. Black coffee and green tea are my drinks of choice.

The beginning of river eight & co.
Before I started my personal branding photography business, I was a family and newborn photographer. I love babies and I loved capturing families’ legacies.
I realized that what I really connected with was the moms, the women trying to do it all- juggling family life, marriage life, and growing a business. I wanted to be able to not only capture that ambition, but celebrate every woman and her mark on the world.
River Eight & CO is named after my family and my Japanese heritage. The Kawa in my last name Kawada, means river in Japanese. My youngest son’s nickname is Hachi, which means eight in Japanese. The number 8 represents growing prosperous because of the way the letter (八)broadens. And because “and Co.” at the end. Hopefully, my business will flow with prosperity.
